The Bat Flower Plant (Tacca chantieri) is one for the collectors! These exotic plants bloom with flowers that mimic a bat in flight, deep purple, with ruffled wings and long, hanging filaments. These stunning and unique plants will bloom indoors if it is happy with it's environment and generally flowers will appear in spring and last until early autumn. Large, attractive leaves surround the bloom, offering a foliage display similar to Peace Lilies.
These collectable plants are a little less hardy than other indoor varieties, so for the best results, take care to follow our guidelines below, and even do some research of your own to maximize it's growth and flower development.

Pot stands at 13cm tall, and is 13cm wide.
Overall height with the plant is roughly 35cm tall.
Loves warm, humid conditions in a medium and bright filtered light positions, away from direct sun. The brighter the better, but keep out of direct sun.
Keep away from drafty positions, such as near open windows or in the direct stream from heating or cooling outlets.
Does not like to be overly cold, so in the winter period, be sure to keep in a warm position in your home.
This plant likes to be kept moist, but not soggy. When watering, be sure to allow the water to fully drain through the pot, until the water stops dripping from the drainage hole, then return to it's drip tray. Generally water when the top few centimeters feels dry, but be careful not to allow to fully dry out.
In winter, especially in Victoria, these plants can experience a dormancy period. Be sure to cut back the watering and only water when the soil feel dry, generally only every few weeks.
