Each kokedama is made by hand, by us, using layers of soil, coconut fibre and jute twine -  just for you!
Due to the high demand, hand made nature, and the physical toll they take on our hands, we have to limit the amount we can make at a time. With this in mind, general lead times for kokedama orders are between 2-5 business days, (sometimes longer) depending on our current demand.
We will endeavour to have them made and ready for you ASAP, but if you require for a specific date, please leave a note on your order, in the comments section at checkout.
To avoid disappointment, we recommend allowing at least a weeks notice.

POSITION

Loves medium and bright filtered light positions.
The brighter the better, but keep out of direct sun.
Loves humidity, so ideal for a kitchen or bathroom!

WATER

Because Calatheas naturally occur in tropical areas, they need a humid environment and constantly moist soil, but will suffer if water is allowed to stand in the kokedama for too long. SO be sure to not soak your kokedama for too long, and ensure excess water is gently squeezed out of your kokedama as per care instructions provided.

Typically water every 1-2 weeks year round.

Having trouble with watering, or want to be on the cautious side? Try one of our sustee water checkers! These devices take all of the guesswork out of when to water! Check them out here.

HOW TO WATER

Fully submerge your kokedama in a bowl, sink or bucket. You may need to hold it under for a moment! Allow to soak for 10-15 minutes until kokedama feels heavy and full.

Alternatively, you can gently water from the top as you would a normal pot plant. Simply part any lower foliage to expose some soil and gently water. This method will also ensure the moss and twine wrap is prolonged.

It is important to gently squeeze out excess water from the kokedama by pressing between two hands, on the sides towards the base. This will ensure your kokedama does not stay waterlogged which will prevent conditions such as root rot, fungus gnats and mould. As the moss and twine are natural products they are biodegradable and as such, squeezing out the excess water will prevent deterioration, prolonging the life of your kokedama.
