The name Prayer Plant refers to many varieties of plant belonging to the Maranta species. They get their name from their foliage elevating upright at night, into a prayer position!
This particular variety offers the most striking foliage, with deep purple undersides, revealing a stunning display both in the daylight hours, and at night when it folds up.

Overall height with the plant is roughly 30-35cm tall.
Ideally suited to medium and bright filtered light, away from direct sun. Can tolerate some low light areas.
Water every 1–2 weeks, allowing soil to dry out half way down between watering. Expect to water more often in brighter light and less often in lower light, and the same goes during the seasonal changes.
Marantas can be sensitive to hard tap water. Try using filtered water or leaving water out overnight before using - do not use cooled boiled water.
Feed monthly with a water soluble fertiliser in spring and summer.
